Zeb the Oddkin Zebra (Prototype)

Meet Zeb the Oddkin Zebra!

I thought I was done making horses, but then I spotted this zebra-print cotton scrap and knew I needed to make just one more. Zeb’s zebra-print body is paired with a chaotic mix of black-and-white prints that somehow work together, with a few fun pops of red. He served as a prototype to test my new pattern in quilting cottons and other scraps more likely to be found in someone’s scrap basket than wool. Because cotton doesn’t stretch like wool, he turned out a little smaller than his woolly relatives, but every bit as full of character.

About the Kindred Creatures: The Kindred Creatures are the kooky, scrappy animal friends of the Oddkin monsters, pieced together from fabric scraps and salvaged bits in resourceful and unexpected ways. Soft, silly, and a little odd, they share their monster kin’s expressive details and peculiar personalities.

A Note About Beans: I use dry beans or rice in my Oddkins because I prefer to use non-plastic materials. When kept dry, dried beans do not inherently create a mold or pest problem. Giving a new purpose to pantry staples too old for eating is part of my resourceful Oddkin ethos.
